About Our Grants

The Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana serves as a regranting agency for cultural funds provided by the Louisiana Division of the Arts, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, the Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the City of Lake Charles.  The Arts and Humanities Council funds projects and arts organizations in the following parishes through the Decentralized Arts Funding (DAF) program: Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis. During the month of April, several workshops take place in Region 5.  We encourage you to call us at (337) 439-2787 for the date and location that best suits your organization.

Projects that occur inside Calcasieu Parish are eligible for the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Arts Grant funding.  The funding is for projects only; Calcasieu Parish Police Jury does not fund organizational support requests.  The application deadline is early January.  Visit that page for the exact details.

The Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), Marketing and Tourism grants are due early in May.  The grant is to assist in advertising and marketing your project and Southwest Louisiana.  Organizations domiciled in Calcasieu Parish are eligible.  Visit that page for the exact details.

The Lake Charles Partnership grant is for projects and art organizations inside the City of Lake Charles.  This project or organizational support grant is due early in February.  Visit that page for the exact details.

All of the grant programs are competitive.  Applications may be fully funded, partially funded or not funded based on the number and quality of applications received and available funds. Grant awards are made based on a panel review process. The Arts and Humanities Council welcomes panelist nominations from all parts of region 5.

The staff of the Arts and Humanities Council is available for technical assistance prior to grant deadlines. Applicants may request help designing a successful project, selecting artists to participate in the project, and completing the application form.
